UG Land is a busy area that is a clash of themes between the existing prehistoric corkscrew theme and the new RITA race theme. There might not be vertical rollercoaster or latest playground ride but there is plenty to do in this area. While the thrill seekers challenge Corkscrew and RITA, the rest of the family can get wet on the soak-a-saurus or ride the UG swinger.

UG Land tends to be quieter in the morning so if you are not so keen on riding the big rollercoaster's, it can be a good area to head for first, but unless looking for somewhere to eat - avoid UG Land at lunchtime as there are a lot of food outlets and the area can get extremely over crowded.

History of UG Land

UG Land was originally Talbot Centre, a quiet area which houses a few small ride and several shops. With the introduction of Corkscrew in 1980, the area was renamed Festival park. UG Land has been host to many thrill ride over the years, but most have either now been removed or moved to a different area of the park.

In 1999 Festival Park saw a total re-theme into UG Land - a prehistoric Dinosaur themed are with a few changes mad to some of the older rides. UG Land now is themed around the dinosaurs that were introduced in 1999 and the rides have been renamed to fit in. Corkscrew also received its first theming since it was built 20 years before, new trains and a fresh lick of paint. In 2005, RITA queen of Speed was opened along with the new Racing theme, splitting UG Land into an unexpected theme clash of prehistoric against modern, but strangely it works !!
