Merrie England is the first real area (apart from Towers
Street) you experience when you enter the park, as you approach the lake
from walking down Towers Street, Merrie England is directly on the left.
The first thing you notice is the mass amount of stalls
for you to waist your money on before you've even been on a ride, but
don't be put off, the park gets a lot better. Merrie England is themed as
it suggests on a small English village and is host to the Splash Kart
Challenge, The Tea Cups
and the Flume.
History of Merrie
England
The Ingestre Centre, one of the
parks oldest areas once stood where Merrie England does today and held
host to a few shops and an aquarium. The Log Flume was
added in 1981and the area had a name change to Aqualand.
Aqualand stayed the same for a
number of years, with the Tea Cups, Grand Canyon Rapids, and the Swan
Boats being added. In 1992 Aqualand was split up into Merrie England and
Katanga Canyon.
