Another new ride for 2003 was Duel -The haunted house strikes back. Although the Haunted House was a classical and great ride, Alton Towers felt that the area and ride needed a change so they revamped the building and re-themed the ride slightly so that now it is based more on Zombies and aliens than the dead although there are numerous models/sculptures outside of the living dead.

The ride's track has not changed that much, but the cars are now equipped with the special ingredient - the Laser Shooting Guns. This is an interactive ride where the riders try and shoot targets on ghosts and walls. Each person is given a score at the of the ride to compare with their friends.
